Improving the Separation of PS and ABS Plastics Using Modified Induced Air Flotation with a Mixing Device

A dramatic increase in plastic waste has resulted a strong need to recycling accordingly. selective flotation been highlighted due its outstanding efficiency for the separation of mixed plastics with analogous physicochemical characteristics. In this study, effects design and operational factors on bubble’s hydrodynamic mixing parameters induced air (IAF) device were investigated through experiment method (DOE) analysis improving (i.e., PS ABS). As result DOE analysis, tube diameter together rotational speed could generate smaller bubble size. This led enhancement ratio interfacial area velocity gradient (a/G), which was interestingly found be significant factor affecting recovery apart from chemical agents. It demonstrates that operating IAF at greater a/G improved performance. These findings suggest an process suitable conditions promising technique separating wastes, have similar characteristics as ABS.
